At Strawberry Innovation, we teach innovation so that we can make the world a better place.
STEM education is also important to us. Let's inform and inspire the next generation!
An Unknown Yale University Professor (Not Albert Einstein)
Hi, I'm Julie N. Strickland, Spacesuit Engineer and Innovator. Let me show you how to find answers to your most challenging problems. I have a proven record of innovation in a variety of industries: aerospace, oil & gas, and extraterrestrial. See below for more about me.
With a full menu of topics, I have speeches for all audiences. Leaders would benefit from "Leading Innovators" or "The Value of Innovation." Engineers would like "Technical Innovation." Anyone would learn from "How to Think Like an Innovator." With individual and group options, I will work to meet your team's unique needs.

A Master of Science in Materials Science and Engineering. Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering. I have worked in aerospace most of my career with just enough time in oil and gas to understand the challenges. My career started in interconnect - wiring harnesses, cables, flex circuits - where I learned electrical concepts from power drop over resistance to EMI to grounding principles. My mechanical designs ranged from large power distribution units to small, cutting-edge radar assemblies and from water- to air-cooled electronic assemblies. I am a proven innovator with the mechanical and electromechanical design background to understand your technical challenges.

Every Request for Proposal centers around a Challenging Problem. Companies take risks when they submit proposals without first addressing the challenge. Let me work with your team to come up with approaches to reduce risk and find the solution that will set your team apart from the rest. With multiple patents awarded, a long list of patent applications, and a trade secret, I know how to innovate. Let me work with your team to teach them how to think more creatively. I know the questions to ask and the visualizations to spark new ideas.
The image of an apple falling on Newton's head is synonymous with idea generation. That's only part of the story. Sir Isaac Newton spent years studying physics before realizing that gravity existed. You, too, can set yourself for innovation with a few exercises and a Strawberry-led approach. Let's grow your best ideas.
Who are innovators?
Why are they important?
How can you facilitate their creativity?
Let me tell you what innovators need, from an innovator's perspective. Because most are so busy creating that they fail to articulate their needs. But trust me, we need leaders to support and sponsor us.
Every customer and company has a list of challenges, whether they call it a Gap Analysis List or Future IRAD (internal research & development) Projects. Developing solutions to these challenges reduces risk, increases the company's chance of winning the proposal, and provides a path forward. Let me show you how to develop solutions. Let's plant those seeds together in a targeted innovation workshop.
Austin Community College honored Julie N. Strickland at the inaugural Alumni Award Ceremony. Strickland was awarded Distinguished Alumni. This is her story from feeling like an absolute failure when she started at ACC in 2000 to working on the next gen spacesuit in 2024.
From changes in eye sight to chicken legs, human bodies experience a variety of changes in space. Julie N. Strickland explains some of these changes while entertaining with fun asides. Thank you, AIAA Houston, for the invitation to speak at the Space Geek series.
Solve the right problem. Sometimes, we jump to a solution that seems obvious to us. We may pat ourselves on the back for seeing the answer right away. However, we need to stop and ask a few questions prior to proceeding with our first thought.
For more information on fees and availability, send me a message. How many people will attend? How many hours or days are you planning? Tell me about your event, and I will get back to you soon with more information. I look forward to talking to you.
